Strawberries in Balsamic
  • Half Lb ripe strawberries
  • 1 Table spoon sugar
  • 1 Table spoon balsamic reserve
  • 1 pint creamy vanilla ice cream
  • mint leaves
Rinse and clean the strawberries. Cut them in four pieces lenghtwise and place them in a bowl. Add the sugar, the balsamic and mix. Let macerate for 1 hour. Place two scoops of ice cream in a dessert plate. Pour the strawberries next to the ice cream. Decorate with the mint's leaves.

Apple Strudel

  • For the dough:
  • 23 oz - all purpose flour
  • 4 whole eggs
  • 1.4 oz - margarine
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 lemon's skin
  • Stuffing:
  • prepare 6 hour in advance
  • 13 apples or pears (peeled and sliced)
  • 7 oz raisin
  • 4.5 oz pine nuts
  • 1 Table spoons cinammon powder
  • 4 Table spoons sugar
  • 1 oz rum
  • 1 egg's yolk
Prepare 6 h in advance: In a bowl place the sliced fruit. Add raisin and pine nuts. Add the sugar, cinnamon and the rum. Mix well. Make the crust. Spread it. Grate the dried biscotti over spreaded dough, add some flakes of butter. Put over the prepared fruits, Fold over the dough and make a roll. Place in a baking pan, put in the oven, preheated, bake 30 minutes at 200C. Take out of the oven, brush the strudel with the juices obtained from the fruit + 1 egg yolk. Put back in the oven and bake 5 more minutes.

  • Ingredients for 2 cakes:
  • 3.52 oz butter
  • 5.28 oz sugar
  • 10.57 oz all purpose white flour
  • 4 whole eggs
  • 2 table spoons baking powder
  • 10.66 fluid oz (1.27 cup) milk
  • 5.28 oz crushed walnuts
  • 8.81 oz dried figs, thinly sliced
  • 1.76 oz pine nuts
  • 1.76 oz mixed raisins
  • 3.52 oz mixed candied fruits, cubed
  • 15 almonds, peeled
  • 1 egg for egg wash
Leave the butter out of fridge overnight to soften. In a mixer combine the sugar, butter and eggs. Start mixing and add slowly the flour and milk. Combine all remaining ingredients except the almonds and add them to the mixer. Mix (clockwise only) for 15 minutes. Spread a thin layer of butter on the baking pan and sprinkle some flour. Add the dough, insert the almonds over it in a decorative way. Bake in a preheated (moderate heat) oven and bake for 40 minutes. Slide the cake out on the oven door and brush over the cake the whipped egg to make it shiny. Bake 5 more minutes
